CITY Lads and Sophakama Ladies kept the Nelson Mandela Bay flag flying high when they managed to accumulate the three maximum league points each during their SAFA Eastern Cape Sasol Ladies League games on Saturday.

Gunners, as City Lads are called by their supporters, collected three maximum league points after they embarrassed Ayakha Stars 4-1 in their away game.

Since the start of the season, Gunners have performed excellently.

Consequently, Lads are one of the top teams in the Sasol League.

Sophakama Ladies faced the tough Bashee Ladies and overcame them 3-2 at Zwide Stadium. The game was not easy and Sophakama had to dig deep to beat the Mbashe-based side.

Another Nelson Mandela Bay side, Manchester Babes, settled for a hard-fought 2-2 draw when they took on Cumakala Ladies at Jabavu Stadium in Kwanobuhle on Saturday.

The SAFA NMB Women’s Regional League champions, Highbury Ladies, suffered a huge 3-1 home defeat to Eastern Rangers Ladies.

Head coach, Knox Faas, stated that his side failed to score many easy chances.
