Suspects flee with money, firearm during cash in transit robbery in Gqeberha

Police are seeking community assistance in tracing suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a 10-year-old girl.

Police in Humewood responded to a complaint of a cash in transit robbery in Central, Gqeberha earlier today, July 28.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 10:02, guards from a private security company collected money from a business in Govan Mbeki Avenue, Central and on their way back to their vehicle, three suspects approached the guards and took an undisclosed amount of cash and one firearm. 

She said the suspects fled in a Nissan bakkie.

“No shots were fired, and no one was injured during the robbery,” said Janse Van Rensburg.

“The investigation is ongoing.”
