KwaDwesi SAPS members arrested a 26-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs during a stop-and-search operation conducted in Zinyoka yesterday, 24 May 2026.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, at approximately 20:00, members attached to the KwaDwesi Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) were patrolling and conducting stop-and-search operations in Mbeki Road, Zinyoka, a known crime hotspot area, when they received information from a reliable source about alleged drug dealing activities at a house in Madwara Street, Zinyoka.
“Members immediately obtained a search warrant and proceeded to the identified address at Madwara Street, Zinyoka,” she said. “Upon arrival at about 21:10, police introduced themselves, explained the purpose of their visit and conducted a search of the premises.”
She added that during the search, police discovered 19 transparent packets of Tik, 17 transparent packets of CAT, and an amount of R385 in cash concealed inside a black sling bag.
“A 26-year-old male suspect, identified as Anele Skweyiya, was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
The suspect is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.
