MAMELODI Sundowns Eastern Cape Supporters Club’s lockdown programme recently helped the Endlovini informal settlement, near Wells Estate, by giving them vouchers to purchase food.
The lockdown programme is called Akulalwa Kwa Sundowns, meaning ‘at Sundowns we do not sleep but we help others’.
The Mamelodi Sundowns Eastern Cape Supporters Club coordinator, Lulamile Ruu Mzayiya, said the vouchers allowed the residents to purchase any food items of their choice, strictly at Bluewater Bay Spar, during lockdown.
Mzayiya said, “Wells Estate Informal Settlement (Endlovini) is where we rendered our support during these hard times of lockdown. We have discovered that some homes had nothing to eat. One of the beneficiaries, Mamu Bob, who was very emotional, told us that she did not know what she and her son were going to eat.
“Let me express my sincere gratitude to Vukani Multi Sports Club (VMSC), as Mamelodi Sundowns Eastern Cape Supporters Coordinator, for their ongoing relationship that we have and for working together to make a difference in our communities from daytime through to midnight,” Mzayiya said.
“We take pride in VMSC and Bluewater Bay Spar for their phenomenal role that they have played. We thank them very much. May the Almighty God bless them.”
