The Gqeberha K9 unit led to the arrest of three suspects immediately after they robbed a couple in Marine Drive, Summerstrand, on Thursday evening, August 10.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged at approximately 16:30, a police member was busy with patrols on Marine Drive when he heard screams.
She said the police member was then immediately stopped and was approached by a couple who informed him that they were just robbed of their cell phones by three suspects armed with a knife.
“The suspects jumped into a stationary taxi at a stop street.
“The member stopped the taxi and arrested three suspects aged between 25 and 32 on a robbery charge,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
“The cell phones were recovered, and the knife that was used during the robbery was also confiscated.”
The suspects will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate’s court on Monday, August 14.
