Tawfeeq participated in the Proskills Soccer trials, followed by an intensive boot camp, after which he was identified to play in a centre back position.

The Proskills Academy was recently accepted to participate in the world renowned Manchester Cup competition, which will be held on April 11 and 12, followed by trials in London until April 18.

“During this time, the players will have the opportunity to be scouted and pursue their dreams to become professional football players,” said Latiefa Baboo, Tawfeeq’s proud mother.

“Tawfeeq has been an aspiring soccer player since the age of four. He played soccer at school and represented his school every year at the Eastern Cape Annual Muslim Schools (AMS) Tournament and was selected to represent the National AMS team in his Grade 12 year.

“He attended Nasruddin Islamic School.

“At club level he soon progressed to the 1st Division, taking the lead and being promoted to the Premier League. He also played in the Castle League.”

“I’d like to encourage other athletes to chase their dreams wholeheartedly. Work hard and never give up.

“Most importantly, have fun,” concluded Tawfeeq.
