THE Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) is experiencing a refuse collection challenge due to the prolonged overtime dispute with workers in the Waste Management sub-directorate.

“There was an unexpected strike last week Thursday by Waste Management staff which resulted in failure to collect refuse. The municipality would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said NMBM spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki.

According to Mniki, the issues are in the process of being resolved. The consequence of the strike caused limited refuse collection services in certain areas.

According to Mniki, it is expected that refuse collection will be back on schedule from tomorrow (Thursday).
