Almost a year after she lost two of her young children to gas poisoning, a Nelson Mandela Bay mother was moved by a complete stranger from the Western Cape that recently named her newborn baby after her late daughter.
Selina Ingram, mother of late siblings, Matthew and Tammy Ingram, said that she had never met this special lady from George but this woman was expecting a baby and decided that if the baby was a boy, she would name him Matthew Ingram but if she gave birth to a girl, the baby would be named Tammy Ingram.
“It is such an honour. On the 27th of June 2021, Tammy Ingram Okuhle was born,” Selina posted on Facebook.
“I call her Little Tammy. Anita, who is Little Tammy’s mom, said that she watched all Tammy’s videos and would love to see her daughter grow up just like my Tammy,” Selina said.
“Thank you, Anita. May God Bless Little Tammy. There are real princesses out there and may she grow up to be one.”
Tammy (12) and Matthew, who turned 17 whilst in a coma, died in August and September last year, respectively, after being exposed to a poisonous gas when part of the Kabega Park apartment block they lived in, was being fumigated.
The whole family, including Selina and her husband, Stanton, experienced symptoms such as vomiting and being unable to walk during the early hours of the morning of August 22, 2020.
Although their parents were treated and discharged from hospital shortly after the incident, Tammy, who had started experiencing seizures, died the next day. Matthew held on until September 18, when he took his last breath.
