IN celebration of Women’s Day this year, PEMADS Theatre sees the revival of the much celebrated comedy-drama, Steel Magnolias.

First staged by PEMADS in 1995, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic Steel Magnolias film, starring Julia Roberts.

Award-winning director, Lesley Barnard (who appeared in the original production), has assembled a great cast, with Robin Williams making a welcome return to the stage, after many years in the director’s chair.

She will be playing the irascible Ouiser – the delightful role played by Shirley MacLaine in the movie.

The cast includes Pemads favourites, Yolande Farrow, Gemma Barnard and Vanessa Smith, as well as offering a warm welcome to Kerry Lee Allen and Kasvia von Memerty in an all-female cast.

This wonderful story and excellent script contain both pathos and much humour, as these women share their daily lives, fun and battles in the comfort of their favourite hairdressing salon.

Steel Magnolias runs from August 14-24, nightly (excluding Sunday) at 19:30 at The Little Theatre in Central.

Members, on presenting their cards, can book their seats at the Opera House Computicket. The public can book at any Computicket, online included, for R90pp.
