Stageworld hosts scriptwriting workshop ahead of one-act play festival

Response for entries to the return of the Udumo one-act high
school play competition has been excellent, a scriptwriting workshop will be
held on Saturday, June 25 at the Barn, Mandela Bay Theatre Complex.

The
workshop presented by Marlene Pieterse, principle and founder of Stageworld Performing Arts School is free and open to all high school learners and educators.  Topics covered will be writing to perform and
how to grab attention and tell a story with impact. 

Amongst the many schools that have entered are Kwazakhele
High School, Hoërskool Framesby, Unicollege and Ndyebo Secondary School.

The Opera House will host the competition from August 2 to
14, with three finalists squaring off at a gala finale on Saturday, August 14.

The schools will be vying for the trophy and cash prizes:

  • Wining

    play: R30 000 for winning play
  • Winning

    scriptwriter: R6 000 for winning scriptwriter
  • Best

    director: R5 000 for best director
  • Best

    actor and actress: R3 000 each
