Walmer police are on the hunt for a suspect allegedly involved in a business robbery at a fast food restaurant in Circular Drive, Lorraine this morning.

According to Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, police spokesperson, it is alleged that at approximately 08:45 on 1 February the suspect entered the restaurant and pointed a firearm at one of the employees, demanding cash.

“The suspect forced all the employees to the back of the premises. The manager was busy in her office when the suspect approached her and demanded cash. She was assaulted with the firearm. 

“No cash was taken, however the personal belongings of the employees (cell phones and cash) were taken. The suspect fled on foot into the nearby bushes. The manager was taken to hospital for further medical attention,” Janse van Rensburg said.

A case of business robbery is under investigation.
