Their target group from Motherwell NU 4, Showvillage and Motherwell NU 6, were boys and girls from age 9 to 13.

The netball coaches were Ntomboyise Bafie Joni, Zingiswa Gcusa, Lungelwa Dayimani, Poppy Malan and Zintle Buyambo, while the soccer coaches were Thandiwe Mboniswa, Mziwethu Dayimani, Luzuko Xango, Abongile Sihawu and Mzothando Bless.

Layini stated that the aim of their programme was to introduce the laws of netball and soccer to the children. He further revealed that the programme was used as a tool to keep the children off the street.

Layini said, “This programme helps to keep the youth busy other than involving themselves in criminal activities. Furthermore, we use these coaching clinics as a proper platform to nurture the young talent. One day, we will produce two or many professional players who started in our programme.”

Layini also said that during the winter school holidays, they will introduce touch rugby, cricket and aerobics. Layini who was so chuffed, thanked the parents who supported their children and the coaches.

He said, “I would like to thank Motherwell Shopping Centre for giving us the chance to coach the children.

“I would like to thank Motherwell Shopping Centre for providing meals to the coaches and children.

“There were no hassles during the programme and it was a successful one.”
