On 9 August 2026 Edge Day Hospital turns 5 years old.

As part of their annual commitment to uplifting the youth, they sponsored a local underprivileged children’s soccer club by providing equipment and training gear.

In addition, they hosted a fun day for the players, reinforcing our commitment to healthier, brighter futures.

Their patients went to them from near and far both local and international as far as Europe and Hawaii.

This opportunity allows them to not only showcase their hospital but their beautiful city as well.

Their dedicated team of nursing professionals are committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care.

They offer a comprehensive range of day surgery services across various surgical specialties, including: ENT (ear, nose & throat), plastic & cosmetic surgery, orthopaedics, Gynaecology, general surgery, general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.

Other members of their multi-disciplinary team include local experts of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, orthotists and skilled surgical eps.

This approach helps ensure a holistic approach to their patients’ recovery process.

Showcasing Gqeberha on the Global Stage

At Edge Day Hospital, they take pride in initiatives that place the city of Gqeberha in the global spotlight.

In November 2024, we co-hosted the World Rhinplasty Day, alongside the Boardwalk Convention Centre and Nelson Mandela University.

They welcomed delegates from over 70 countries across the world.

Over five days, participants engaged in conferences, live surgical demonstrations, and cadaver dissections.

As a result, Gqeberha’s place on the international healthcare map was solidified.

In October 2025 they again co-hosted the first academic conference for AFPSA (African Facial Plastic Surgery Academy). This conference welcomed over 40 delegates from various countries.

This spectacular event, marked the inaugural launch of the association. It is the first of its kind to help streamline Surgeons who want to persue the Speciality of Plastic & Cosmestic Surgery.

These milestones reflect their commitment not only to advancing the medical profession but also to supporting our city’s economic and professional growth.

Uplifting Our Community

Beyond healthcare, Edge Day Hospital is dedicated to community upliftment. Their outreach projects include free dental surgeries annually for children at the SOS Children’s Village.

They also include donations to local clinics, government hospitals, homeless shelters, and Animal Welfare organizations.

Nelson Mandela Day, 18 July 2025, saw their staff packing and distributing lunch packs for 100 patients waiting for long periods at Livingston Hospital. This year will offer much needed supplies to a local old age facility.

Where are we headed

Edge Day Hospital began as a fifteen day bedded and two theatre facility, with an authorised seven patient stay over per day.

This made it the only Day Hospital in Eastern Cape with an overnight facility. From January 2026, the public may have noticed the rumbling and disruption of Forbes avenue.

Fast forward six months, they are now 23 beds and four Operating Theatres with brand new parking facilities, admission and reception.

There are also additional comforts and conveniences for our patients and visitors. Not to let out too many secrets but they welcome to come in, grab a fresh brewed coffee and find out for yourself!

This growth will allow them to accommodate more patients, introduce new surgical specialties, and create employment opportunities across various healthcare fields.

As they look ahead, Edge Day Hospital remains committed to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care. This applies to their patients, their community, and their city.
