Motherwell school, Soqhayisa Senior Secondary School, performed extremely well as their 2025 Grade 12 pass rate reached 99.6% during November examinations.
One of their educators, Kholekile Fodi, told PE Express that all their educators and learners burnt the midnight oil so that they would raise the bar.
Fodi highlighted that they worked beyond the call of duty. Furthermore, Fodi said that they went the extra mile so that they could realise their objective.
Sivuyile Mdishwa, who is also one of the educators, revealed that their school management team crafted a year plan.
Mdishwa said, “We had three camps that assisted us. All the staff helped the learners to achieve the best results. Our school received an 82.4% bachelor pass rate.”
Mdishwa said that their top learner, Sesona Masingili, obtained seven distinctions for Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, IsiXhosa, Life Orientation, Life Sciences and English.
Mdishwa said that Masingili became the first learner to receive national honours as he achieved a 100% pass in Accounting. Another learner who also excelled was Lubabalo Waki.
The school principal, Mlungisi Nopote, together with his SMT, staff and parents made a huge contribution towards their school’s excellent performance. Mdishwa said that they had sacrificed their family time for the learners who were willing to study outside normal hours. According to Mdishwa, the parents were very supportive all the time.
Siyolisile Xali and Axolile Magqaza thanked their teachers for showing them the right direction during their high school life. Magqaza said that their teachers treated them like their own children.
Xali added that they achieved excellent results because of their teachers’ sacrifices for them.
