SIX-YEAR-OLD Emily Ras, from Lorraine Primary, has been doing charity work all around the Bay area to help those in need.
Emily’s mother, Sheree Ras, said her daughter, who has a big heart and even bigger dreams, had done numerous charitable activities, including donations, Mandela Day 67 minutes of kind acts, helping the less fortunate and even helping four-legged furry friends.
“As a mom, seeing this little bright six-year-old making the world a better place, I believe we have a bright future, with our children leading the way,” she said.
The Toddler and Tween of the World 2019 finalist, who is in Grade 1, said other people should also do charity work because it will make more children happy.
“I like doing charity (work) because it is fun and it helps children,” she said.
Emily, who loves fishing and camping, said she wanted to be a doctor in the future to help children that are ill.
Some of the charity work that Emily has done included handing out presents at Provincial Hospital for sick children, hanging clothing in public places for the winter tree challenge, with a notice saying, ‘If you need it, take it’, and spreading autism awareness for a whole month with numerous events.
Sheree said they often hold fund-raising events such as modelling and photography competitions in order to fund their charity work.
“I am teaching my daughter to do charity work because it is important,” she explained.
Sheree said her daughter is currently working on ways to get donations of various items such as toiletries, clothing, toys, sweets and stationery to make Christmas boxes to give to children’s homes and less fortunate families.
“We believe no child or person should be without joy and food on Christmas Day,” she said.
