During the festive season, calls at the centre increased as more people were at home, putting more pressure on municipal services.

In addition, the three-shift team of call centre agents receive about 2 000 calls per day.

Only eight people take calls per shift, with some doing the back-end administration work.

“The call centre team has been here for the entire festive season. This team of committed staff understands the importance of this service. I would like to thank them for their work ethic,” said Bhanga.

He added, “I understand that currently the work load is too much, which results in them dropping a few calls. We will work with the mayoral committee member for infrastructure and engineering, Councillor Masixole Zinto, to implement some improvements,” said Bhanga.
