THIS week’s edition of PE Express is the last one of 2022 and the closing chapter of another roller-coaster year.
But despite the ups and downs, there is the realisation that we are in a much better place than three years ago – when the first COVID-19 outbreaks were reported in China.
Looking back at the past three years, it is hard to believe there was a time when we could not go to a beach or eat takeaways. This time last year we were still wearing masks.
The Express team returned to offices only in April this year, and what an adaption it was to work from an office again after over two years of working from home!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers, advertisers and other stake-holders. Without you we would not be able to publish 240 000 free newspapers every week across the Eastern Cape – or have the digital audiences to take us into the future to ensure that the Eastern Cape communities will have a trusted source of news, for many years to come, about matters that are important to the communities we live in.
If we learnt one thing in the past few years, it is to seize the day – carpe diem.
My wish for everyone reading this message is to seize every day to be your best self, to be kind to every living being – yourself included, to make a difference – big or small, to tell your loved ones that you love them, to make life just a little bit easier or less lonely for those who are struggling.
For those who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a blessed Christmas.
