SAPS is still searching for the 13-year-old boy who went missing after his boat capsized on the Redhouse River on August 10.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, at approximately 10:30, the boy disappeared and presumably drowned.

Beetge said SAPS divers and search and rescue teams were dispatched to conduct a search throughout the weekend, and the search will continue until the boy’s body is found.

While speaking to PE Express, Captain Beetge explained that it typically takes 3-5 days for a body to rise to the surface, at which point the SAPS will cease their search efforts.

“An inquest case has been opened and is being investigated by SAPS Swartkops.”
