MOTHERWELL School of Excellence need to pull up their socks, following a run of dismal performances.
School of Excellence went down 1-0 to Golden Aces during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League home game at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Saturday.
Playing in front of their home supporters, School of Excellence’s forwards squandered numerous scoring opportunities.
However, the Motherwell outfit played an impressive game in the first half, with their centre forward, Sibongile Punisher Marali, searching for an opening goal. Aces goalkeeper Ntsika Cwili saved Marali’s close range shots.
Aces took the game to the home side as Yolanda Solomon kept testing School of Excellence’s defenders. Midfielders Siyanda Mapela and Zukisani Mona read each other like an open book.
Late in the second stanza, Aces were awarded a penalty that was scored by their defender, Anele Jakuja.
School of Excellence midfielder, Sinothando Dlamini, was instrumental in the midfield but Aces’ defenders had done their homework.
Since the start of February, School of Excellence have lost four games and won only one.
They conceded 10 goals and they managed to score three, which all came when they beat New Brighton Academy 3-1 at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on February 8. Consequently, the Motherwell side need to turn their season around urgently.
