GREENWOOD Primary School’s wind band held their Eyes on Tomorrow music concert at the Newton Park Methodist Church on November 9, in aid of local non-profit organisation, the Thand’usana Baby Haven.
The performance was held to assist in raising funds for Thand’usana, which creates a safe and loving environment for abandoned, abused and neglected babies, from newborns to three-year-olds.
An amount of R12 550 was raised, which will be used to further assist the charity.
Thand’usana Baby Haven has a “baby safe” which ensures a safer way of abandoning a baby that alerts the relevant parties whenever a baby is placed into this “safe”.
When the alarm sounds the baby is promptly collected from the “safe” and the life of that child from then on is vastly different from what it would possibly have been.
This haven operates on the premises and under the auspices of the Newton Park Methodist Church.
The Greenwood wind band staff commented that it had been an honour to participate in this very worthwhile cause.
