POLICE in Port Elizabeth are warning the community against buying suspected stolen property.
This warning stems from a business robbery which took place on July 26, at a business premises in Korsten.
It is alleged that at about 20:00, the complainant was on his way into the warehouse when he was accosted by two unknown men who pointed firearms at him and demanded his personal firearm.
The complainant was ushered into the warehouse where he noticed that all the other staff members were lying on the floor.
Approximately eight suspects loaded TVs, generators and tyres into the company’s vehicle. An Opel Corsa sedan and an Isuzu bakkie belonging to staff members were also taken. The quantity of the stolen items is still to be determined.
All the vehicles were later found abandoned in different streets in KwaZakele. No suspects have been arrested. A case of business robbery is under investigation.

Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Maj. Gen. Thembisile Patekile has warned anyone who buys suspected stolen property.
“Buying stolen property is an offence and those found in contravention will be prosecuted if found with such stolen property. I urge the community to reject any goods that may have been stolen instead report the matter to the police,” added Patekile. – REPORTER
