SAPS Mount Road detectives are investigating a case of carjacking following a robbery that took place on Thursday afternoon, March 6, in North End.

According to SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 14:30, the complainant left his place of work in Govan Mbeki Avenue, North End, to deposit money at the bank. As the complainant entered the vehicle, an unknown suspect opened the driver’s side door, pointed a firearm at him, and forced him into the back of the vehicle.

“The suspects drove off in an unknown direction. Later, they stopped and took an undisclosed amount of cash, a mobile phone, and the car keys. The suspects locked the vehicle with the complainant inside and fled,” she added.

The suspects are unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who can assist in tracing the suspects involved is asked to contact SAPS Mount Road on 082 779 7186, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or their nearest police station.
