KARIEGA – A breakthrough in a cold case has resulted in a female suspect being arrested on kidnapping charges.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that an arrest was made in this case related to the kidnapping of Quinton “Doenas” Plaatjies, a man who was kidnapped in Gqeberha.
Netwerk24 reported earlier that Plaatjies was reported missing in 2020 after visiting his relatives in Gqeberha. His car was found near the BeerShack pub located on Beach Road in Humewood, Gqeberha.
SAPS spokesperson Captain André Beetge said, “A 41-year-old female was arrested on 24 October 2025 and appeared at the Kariega Magistrates’ Court on the same day for kidnapping.”
He added that the suspect’s next appearance will be on 26 November 2025.
We can also confirm that the body of Quinton ‘Doenas’ Plaatjies has not yet been found.
Although the investigation continues, Beetge said that SAPS cannot divulge further information for public publication at this stage.
