THE New Brighton police recently embarked on a special project to support the family of a murder and rape victim.
A group of approximately 300 local community members joined the SAPS in a peaceful protest in Ntoyakhe Street, Kwazakele.
This followed after the body of 59-year-old Nomatile Agnes Jantjies, was found at 07:00 on March 17, in her home in Ntoyakhe Street in Kwazakele.
According to police spokesperson, Captain André Beetge, a murder and rape case was opened by the Kwazakele police.
“The New Brighton police, including the sector managers, community police forum and community police officers, took food and other items to the family of the victim to show humanitarian support from the SAPS,” Beetge said.
The groceries were donated by various sponsors which included Boxer, SPAR, Shoprite and U-Save.
