WE always see posters about bad or negative reports and news about our local government and especially our police departments but today I really want to change some of our readers’ views in this matter.
A few months ago my son was involved in a robbery. He was on his way to the taxi rank from school and was assaulted and robbed by a good-for-nothing young man who really scared my son to death! I know as a Christian I must not judge, but my son was really traumatised.
He came home and we went straight to the police department, who sent policemen with us to identify the area and help us with opening a case.
A few days later a detective arrived and he came to fetch my son so he could identify someone they had in for questioning.
Thank God after their good and fast response, my son managed to get his wallet and cellphone back from the shop where the robber pawned it.
In a matter of two months, through the hard work of the Gelvandale detectives, especially a certain detective who worked after hours to make this as easy as possible for my son, they managed to link the suspect to another robbery in same area and he was sent to prison without bail until his next hearing.
Luckily my son had already testified so he no longer had to be reminded of that awful day.
So I really want to say well done Gelvandale detective department!
You really gave us new hope and make us feel safe again. We appreciate you.
