At just 14 years old, Lisakhanya Damons is steadily making a name for herself in modelling, pageantry and community outreach.

A Grade 9 learner at St James RC Secondary School, Lisakhanya is already balancing her academic responsibilities with a growing profile in the fashion and pageant industry.

Her mother, Nomangesi Memani, says Lisakhanya’s journey has been driven by her own passion and determination.

“Lisakhanya is a young model and pageant contestant affiliated with Sophisticated Agency. From a young age, she has shown confidence and a strong interest in fashion and being on stage,” she said.

In 2026, Lisakhanya was appointed as a brand ambassador for Bau Instyle, a local fashion brand. According to her mother, this opportunity came after the brand recognised her confidence, professionalism and passion for fashion.

“As a brand ambassador, she represents Bau Instyle at events, photoshoots and on social media. She takes this responsibility seriously and always represents the brand with pride,” Memani explained.

Beyond modelling, the teenager is actively involved in community outreach, particularly through visits to children’s homes and orphanages, including Sinethemba Home.

“She is very passionate about giving back. During these visits, she donates items, spends time with the children and encourages kindness, confidence and hope,” her mother shared.

“She genuinely enjoys helping others and understands the importance of uplifting young people.”

Lisakhanya’s involvement in pageantry began in 2025 after she personally expressed an interest in modelling and public speaking.

“It was something she asked to pursue herself,” Memani said. “She enjoys being on stage and using her voice in a positive way. Pageantry has helped her grow both personally and socially.”

Her commitment paid off when she won the Miss KwaDwesi pageant in 2025, earning the Queen title in her category at an event held at the Athenaeum Auditorium in Gqeberha.

“That win was a very proud moment for her,” her mother said. “It motivated her to continue working hard in pageantry and modelling.”

Described as confident, kind-hearted, disciplined and respectful, Lisakhanya sees pageantry as a platform for self-expression and inspiration.

“She loves pageantry because it allows her to build confidence and inspire other young girls,” Memani said. “Being a brand ambassador has also taught her responsibility and how to be a positive role model.”

Looking ahead, Lisakhanya is preparing to take part in the Miss Teen Excellency South Africa pageant, which will take place in Johannesburg in September 2026.

She will represent the Eastern Cape in the Teenagers’ category.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for her, and she is honoured to represent her province,” her mother added.

Voting for the pageant is currently open and will close on 15 March.

“We are calling on the community to support Lisakhanya through voting,” Memani said. “Every vote means a great deal and encourages her to keep striving for excellence.” For more information on how to vote go to www.missteenexcellencysa.co.za
