THE Vales Neighbourhood Watch has partnered with Fidelity ADT, following a spike in criminality within the Parsons Hill, Greenacres, Millard Grange, Mount Road and Perridgevale areas.
The objective of their collaboration was to send a message that crime would no longer be tolerated.
“We realise the importance of approaching crime concerns as a collective entity and work closely with various neighbourhood watches throughout Port Elizabeth. We can enhance our security efforts by joining forces and adding resources as this creates a more robust approach to tackling crime,” said Fidelity ADT’s branch manager for Port Elizabeth, Ryan Britz.
“We enjoy working with our community members and try to empower them wherever possible,” he added.
The recent activities include night time patrols from all players involved, including the SAPS who form part of these initiatives. These night time patrols not only send a message to criminals but also to residents who can sleep a little easier knowing that someone is looking out for their well-being.
“We encourage all residents to contribute to entities such as The Vales Neighbourhood Watch where possible, as their support is what keeps these groups afloat. This can be as simple as attending local crime related meetings, while more serious involvement might include joining their patrol teams,” Britz added.
These patrols were arranged by Fidelity ADT who continue to play a vital role in assisting communities in such efforts. Residents can contact their Port Elizabeth branch should they wish to find out more around such patrols or how to form a neighbourhood watch or similar community entity.
Adding further support is the community information centre (CIC), which was set up by Fidelity ADT at their PE offices three years ago, and has become an essential tool which members of the community can use to report all crime or municipal related issues. The CIC can be contacted on 086 12 12 210.
