THE Walmer Mini-Soccer tournament finally came to an end, after Real Madrid FC were crowned the winners following their emphatic 2-0 win over Morning Stars FC during the finals at Walmer Community Grounds last Monday.
Madrid FC were untouchable as they took Ghetto Stars FC to the cleaners, thrashing them 3-0 in their semi-final. Then it was a crunch time after Mabayibone Strikers FC went down 5-4 on penalties to Morning Stars, following their full-time 1-1 draw, in their semi-final.
Madrid FC lifted the Walmer Mini-Soccer Tournament floating trophy plus a prize of R4 000 and 18 gold medals. Stars received a second prize of R2 000 and 18 silver medals.
Real Madrid FC goalkeeper, Lulamo Beymani, received the best goalkeeper of the tournament award, while the player of the tournament award went to Morning Stars FC player, Athenkosi Ndesi.
According to one of tournament organisers, Lungisa Fina, the tournament will be an annual event.
Fina, who was visibly excited, stated that the tournament was a success.
