VULUMZI Secondary School in Motherwell has received a R140 000 mobile science laboratory, thanks to PPC, in partnership with the Department of Basic Education.
The lab will aid Grades 8 to 12 learners in improving the quality of science knowledge, while giving the teachers an opportunity to produce more engineers, scientists and technicians.
According to PPC sales and marketing area manager, Barry Jacobs, the company has put various measures in place to ensure the most effective use of the labs.
“Investing in education is a top priority for us all at PPC, because sustainability is a key focus of the initiative,” Jacobs said.
Since 2016, the PPC science education programme has deployed 33 mobile science labs.
The science labs incorporate the technology and science to conduct experiments needed in high school syllabuses.
Vulumzi Secondary School principal, Mzimkhulu Fina, said that the donation was a dream come true for the learners.
“We are excited to be receiving the donation of the mobile science lab; it will help both the educators and learners with the improvement of science teaching experienceand with learning, and consequently will assist with the improvement of the pass rates,” Fina said.
