THE Community Chest’s annual Winter Woolly Drive is now officially in full swing.

Winter has finally arrived and thousands of people are already affected by the plummeting temperatures.

“While the majority of us are snuggled up in our warm beds at night, there are many out there who are exposed to the elements,” said Community Chest Eastern Cape public relations officer Colette Theron.

According to her, people often take certain things for granted, such as blankets, hot water bottles, hot water or even socks, while vulnerable individuals see it as a luxury.

“Community Chest reaches out to the homeless, families who have lost all their belongings due to natural disasters, rural schools and to over 200 registered community partners throughout the Eastern Cape,” said Theron.

The Community Chest invited corporates, schools and the broader public to participate in the heart-warming campaign. Their main sponsor, Caltex EC Marketer, provide drop-off points at their service stations throughout the Eastern Cape.

Donations can also be delivered to their offices at 126 2nd Avenue, Newton Park or arrangements can be made for collection on 041 582 1592.

The Winter Woolly Drive will run until the end of the winter season.
