Protests have flared up again in Gqeberha and Kariega this morning.

“Their motives are believed to be service delivery related in terms of electricity demands,” Beetge said.

Various locations along the R75 have been barricaded using burning tyres and rubble. “The Public Order Police Unit is on the scene. Extra policing by surrounding stations are taking place on the R75 and surrounds,” he added.

The R75 has been closed for traffic and road users are requested to utilise alternative routes between Gqeberha and Kariega and Despatch.
