THE Sunday morning of August 25 was an exciting one for the Walmer Scouts and the children at MTR Smit Children’s Haven.
Children were told earlier in the week of the adventure that was in store for them and could hardly contain themselves on their way to Aldo Scribante Race Track.
On their arrival, more than 10 Porsches awaited them and children were each given rides around the track.
Porsche drivers had taught the children about each of the models and they were soon experts themselves.
The children were given lunch together with packs filled with sweets and stationery.
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the Algoa Motor Sport Club for arranging the track, as well as the Porsche Club members, who had offered up their time and were willing to burn their tyres for the children.
Dou Pienaar from Caltex Port Elizabeth Convenience Centre graciously donated the burgers and chips so the children could eat a hearty lunch.
