Police seek suspect one month after double murder rocks New Brighton

Luthando Bafani is wanted by the police.


A little more than a month after a double murder rocked the community of New Brighton, detectives are still on the hunt for a wanted suspect, Luthando Bafani (35).

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Bafani, who is allegedly responsible for shooting and killing Bagcine Sith (23) and Andile Williams (29) on July 19 this year. 

According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, the deceased’s bodies were found during the early hours of the morning in a house in Mhambehlala Street on the date of the incident by police. “On arrival they found two men with gunshot wounds to the head,” she said.

Bafani’s current whereabouts are unknown. Police are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, D/Sgt. Phakamile Mndaweni on 076 771 6444 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via the MySAPS App. All information is confidential.
