Police have confirmed two separate robberies in Summerstrand: the first on Admiralty Way and the second on Harvey Street, both unfolding in the early hours of today, February 28.

In a media statement by SAPS, police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge said, the first one happened in Admiralty Way, Summerstrand at about 02:35 when the owner of a bed and breakfast business woke up and two men armed suspects entered his room.

” They demanded valuables and took two of his cell phones.

“They also woke up a tenant in another room and took his cell phone, before ordering both of them to go to a back room. The suspects then fled the scene in the owner`s black VW Polo. A case of business robbery was opened,” said Beetge.

Beetge added,” a short while later at about 03:45 a homeowner on Harvey Street was woken up by hearing noises and discovered two men suspects in her home.

“They demanded valuables and took cash from a safe, two cell phones and a laptop.”

” The owner and another person in the house were then tied up using electrical wires, before the suspects fled the scene.

A case of house robbery was opened, and police cannot rule out the possibility that the same suspects are involved in these cases, ” Beetge concluded.

Both cases were opened and are being investigated by SAPS Humewood.
