SAPS Walmer Park detectives opened an inquest after the body of an unknown man was found at Sardinia Bay Beach this morning, July 17.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 08:15 SAPS was alerted to the body of an unknown African male that was washed out of the sea at Sardina Bay Beach.
She explained that community members, SAPS divers, and K9 search and rescue assisted in retrieving the body.
She said the man is dressed in a diving suit and is estimated to be in his thirties.
“He had an open wound to the back of his head; however, the cause of death will only be determined once a postmortem is done,” she revealed.
