The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences
Unit in East London are searching for a suspected rapist and asking the public
for help finding him.
According to police reports, it is alleged that on Friday, November
11, 2020 at 17:00, two females aged 17 and 21 were on their way to Eziphunzana
location from East Bank in Vergenoeg when they were approached by a male
unknown to them at Baartman Church robot.
“The suspect allegedly drew up a knife and demanded their cell
phones and money then he pushed them to the nearby bushes where he raped both
victims, threatening to stab and kill them,” police spokesperson Captain Khaya
Tonjeni said.
The suspect is described to be a slender, tall, dark in
complexion African male with a moustache. He is further estimated to be in his
20s, with distinctive features that include a scar around the left cheek and an
earring on the right.
“A case of rape is under investigation, anyone who can
assist police in tracing the suspect or may recognise the suspect from the
facial identikit compiled by the Facial Identification Unit is asked to contact
D/Sgt Mahlanza on 079 896 8595 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or their nearest
police station.”
