The Provincial Organised Crime
Investigation in Gqeberha is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in
tracing two murder suspects who shot and killed 52-year-old Bongiwe Wendy Hani in New
Brighton, on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
According to police spokesperson Colonel
Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 12:40, two armed men entered a
business premises in Mtiya Street and confronted, Hani and a
co-worker in the kitchen.
“They allegedly demanded money from them.
One suspect pointed a firearm at the two victims, while the second suspect
retrieved his firearm and cocked it, a shot went off, injuring his accomplice.
Both victims were ordered to lie on the floor and Hani was shot in the back by
the injured suspect who then staggered out. The second suspect also shot the deceased in the head,” said Naidu.
She added police are investigating a case of murder, “Nothing was stolen and the suspects
are unknown at this stage.”
