SAPS Kabega Park detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the next of kin of a man whose decomposed body was found on August 28, 2023, at Van Stadens.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 11:45, SAPS Kabega Park attended to a complaint of a body that was washed up on the beach at Van Stadens and was found by a passerby.
She said no identification was found on him at the time of his death, and he is still unknown.
“The male is aged between 45 and 50 and was dressed in a black jacket with ‘secure provision’ written on the left side in red.
“The deceased also had a faded tattoo on the right side of his chest that read ‘ghetto’, a tattoo on the back that read ‘Thug life’, and a tattoo on the right arm that read ‘Thuglife 28’.”
She added that enquiries were made in the vicinity, but no one was able to assist with his identity.
“An inquest was opened and is under investigation.”
