The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Graaff-Reinet are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing two alleged child rape suspects.

According to police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson, it is alleged that the two suspects were involved in the rape of a 12-year-old child in Umasizakhe in December 2020. They apparently forced the victim into the bushes near Tjoksville (Umasizakhe) in Graaff-Reinet and raped her.

“The first of the two suspects had a scar under his right eye and was wearing a light brown jacket at the time of the rape,” said Rawlinson.

“The second suspect was short, chubby built, wearing a dark t-shirt and black beanie.”

Rawlinson further said one of the suspects was in possession of a boombox.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may recognize the suspects from the facial identification or may have any information that can lead to the successful arrest of the suspect/s behind this heinous crime to contact the Investigating Officers Sergeant Valomia Abrahams on 049 807 6207 or on 066 239 6153.”
