Uitenhage police detectives have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly fatally stabbed a 25-year-old security official yesterday, December 4.

According to police reports, it is alleged that at about 13:20, the manager of a store in Market Street, Uitenhage noticed two suspicious females in the store.

“As the manager attempted to approach the two females an unknown male stepped in front of him and obstructed him. The manager then called the security officer and an argument ensued between the unknown male and the security officer.  The manager followed the two females outside however they managed to get away,” police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart explained.

She added that upon the manager’s return to the return to the shop, he found the security officer and the unknown man fighting, “In the ensuing scuffle, the security officer was stabbed in the neck and passed away on the scene. The suspect fled in an unknown vehicle from the scene.”

A case of murder is under investigation and the victim was identified as Jason Fisher.
