POLICE in Port Elizabeth have issued a warning to stude WAITING FOR COMMENTnts living in rented accommodation to be more vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety of themselves and their belongings.

This warning was issued after a 22-year-old student was robbed at knifepoint in his student accommodation in Summerstrand during the early hours of February 12.

According to police information, the student was asleep at his Admiralty Way flatlet, when he was awoken by two unknown men.

One was armed with a knife and threatened him while the other took his laptop and cellphone. Entry was gained through a closed but unlocked door. The value of the items which were stolen amounts to approximately R11 000.

Before going to bed, students must make sure that all the doors and windows are locked.

If they are still awake and the door is unlocked, they must ensure that the security gate is locked. – REPORTER
