Swift action from Algoa Park police detectives on information received resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect and the recovery of almost R30 000 worth of goods.

Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, police spokesperson, said it is alleged that between Tuesday, 20 April and Wednesday, 21 April a house breaking was reported at a business in Grant Street, Sidwell. “The suspect(s) forced a back door open to gain entrance to the property and stole a computer, tools and power tools,” Janse van Rensburg said.

On Thursday, 22 April detectives acted on a “tip-off” of suspected stolen property at a flat in Sidwell.

“A search warrant was executed and the property stolen in the housebreaking in Grant Road was recovered. The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and will appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court today.”
