A SPORTS administrator has reprimanded some soccer players who were busy training at Wells Estates Community Sports Grounds on Saturday.

According to Wells Estates United FC official, Lulamile Ruu Mzayiya, as he was passing the community field he saw a training session being conducted by the players.

Mzayiya said that he came closer to check on them so that he could warn them about how it was in violation of the lockdown regulations.

Mzayiya said, “I reprimanded them that they should stop training but they were very ignorant and told me that they were players who play for the sides that campaign in SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League.

“They further stated that their league was about to start very soon and they wanted to keep fit. I tried to convince them but my words seemed to fall on deaf ears.

“They kept on training. I am very worried about the wrong information that they have that their league is about to resume”.

Mzayiya stated that he informed the players that during lockdown, sports gatherings, including practices or games, are not allowed at all. He revealed that ignorance was putting the lives of these players and other people’s lives at risk. Some young players have also been seen taking part in training sessions at Nelson Mandela Peace Park Freedom, with an adult giving instructions.
