Pilot Andries Daffie (50) died after his agricultural two-seater aircraft crashed on Saturday, 31 October while cropping orchards in Kirkwood.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, on Saturday at about 06:20 it is alleged that the pilot of a two-seater agricultural aircraft was busy cropping orchards in Bushby Way, Sunny Bank in Kirkwood, when his aircraft crashed.
“It is alleged that the aircraft hit the ground and burst into flames,” said Nkohli.
“The crash claimed the life of 50-year-old pilot, Andries Daffie.”
An inquest docket was opened for further investigation.
The investigators from the South African Civil Aviation Authority were also at the scene.
