ORGANISERS of Port Elizabeth’s premier seasonal market, Christmas in the Home, have announced exciting plans to turn the layout of this much loved event, on its head.
According to coordinator, Elsje Smuts, of Trueblue Communication and Events, the annual Christmas expo will look very different this year, as the layout has been designed to specifically entice passers-by to pop in to see what is on offer.
“When we started planning this year’s event, Walmer Park centre management asked us to find ways to “open- up” the perimeters of the expo area. So instead of high walls on the outside perimeter, which make it impossible for passers-by to see what is happening inside, we have opened the outer edges up.
“We believe that the new layout will contribute positively to this well supported event,” she said. The annual market runs from Friday, November 29, to Sunday, December 1, and provides a high-quality trading platform for entrepreneurs and creative artists who do not necessarily have their own shops.
“I think people enjoy the fact that they always find something unique at Christmas in the Home – items you wouldn’t normally find in a shop.
“It’s exciting because the face of the market changes every year.
“We have a different mix of exhibitors and a different look and feel – it’s never the same.
“We are especially excited about the fact that we have already approved more than 20 first time stallholders.”
