The boys of Pearson High can’t wait to get on the rugby bus to return to East London.

This past Saturday the Gqeberha school first XV enjoyed a fantastic victory over Selborne College, and will be returning to East London this coming Saturday.

After downing Selborne in a real thriller, Pearson will have a lot of confidence on their return, this time to tackle Stirling High.

For now Pearson is probably still enjoying the historic 25–22 victory over Selborne. It was the very first time that the top rugby sides of these two schools clashed.

If this first match is anything to go by, school rugby fans can look forward to many entertaining encounters.

It is no easy task for any team to beat Selborne on their home turf, but Pearson showed a lot of guts and determination to pull through.

Another Gqeberha team which has a tough assignment coming up away from home, is Framesby.

Framesby will travel to Riversdale to take on Oakdale, this after Oakdale beat Paarl Boys’ High 20–17 this past Saturday.

Oakdale went into the match as the underdog, but produced a great performance to show that they can beat any team on home soil.

Humansdorp will host a very interesting clash when Nico Malan will try to use home advantage to down Despatch.

Both teams are coming off good wins and have served up some good rugby this year.

Another match to look forward to is the Kariega Derby between Brandwag and Muir College.

Brandwag had a tough outing against Marlow, but will feel they can get back on the winning path on their home ground.

Although Grey High lost against Paul Roos Gym in Stellenbosch, the Gqeberha team can take a lot of heart from this battle. Grey takes on Dale College in Qonce.

Paul Roos beat Grey 39–24, but it was much closer than the score might suggest. Grey was leading 12–8 at half-time and Paul Roos only ensured their victory late in the match.

It was an action-packed encounter with yellow cards being dished out left, right and centre.

The home side scored six tries, but Grey replied with spectacular tries by Reece Miles, Joshua Bands, Kaiden Titus (what a finisher!) and De Wet Goedhals.

Grey impressed with their effective mauls from the lineouts, and can put this weapon to good use against Dale.

It was a great team effort by Grey, with the halfback pairing of Aza Ncula and Jordan Strydom having a particularly good match.

Others who caught the eye with excellent play were Bands at fullback and the captain, Imaani Pemba (hooker).
