THE Peace Lovers FC Easter Tournament was held at the Veeplaas Stadium at the weekend.

The tournament was organised by Peace Lovers FC legend, Mmeli Zidan Coko, together with his club.

According to Coko, the aim of the tournament was to pay respect to the fallen founders of Peace Lovers, to entertain the community members of Veeplaas and to plough back to the club’s supporters.

Another goal of the event was to instil a sense of pride in the Veeplaas clubs, players and supporters.

Coko said, “I founded the tournament myself and I want to see team players, because the teams have been inactive for a year because of the outbreak of COVID-19.

“I am running the programme with our club, Peace Lovers. I am very happy because football of a high standard is being played here.

“The fans and clubs are very disciplined and there are no hassles.”

Peace Lovers FC were eliminated by Govan Mbeki-based side Bay Stars during the quarter-finals. Young Teenagers face Bay Stars in the first semi-final, while Young Aces take on the winners between NAFA side, Shamrocks and Uhuru FC from Alexandria. – SELBY MADIKANE
