GQEBERHA – A joint operation conducted by the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old male and the confiscation of various drugs in Korsten, Gqeberha, yesterday, 16 August.

According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, at approximately 09:20, members executed a search warrant at a premises in Stimela Road, Korsten, as part of Operation Karabo, which focuses on addressing the possession and distribution of drugs and illegal firearms.

“The search yielded positive results, with police confiscating 118 small packets containing suspected Cat/Cocaine, as well as one larger packet weighing approximately 119.5 grams,” she said.

Janse van Rensburg added that members also confiscated 24 small packets of suspected Tik, three medium packets weighing approximately 22.5 grams, two full Mandrax tablets, five dagga zolle weighing approximately 6.5 grams, and seven Tik bulbs.

“Two purses and an undisclosed amount of cash were also confiscated,” she stated. “The 40-year-old suspect was arrested and is facing charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.”

He is expected to appear before the Gelvandale Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 August 2026.

SAPS management commends the members involved in the operation and reiterates its commitment to working with the SANDF and other law enforcement agencies to disrupt the illegal drug trade and remove criminal elements from communities.
