CALLIES Table Tennis Club will once again be hosting their annual Open Championships on Saturday, August 10, at the Feather Market Centre.
The event will be a part of the club’s Women’s Day activities. Players from all around the province are expected to participate.
As the tournament is registered with the South African Table Tennis Board, players, especially juniors, would want to participate, as points are allocated for national rankings.
The club held a schools’ tournament in June and this proved to be the forerunner to the open.
There were many new juniors showing great potential who will be participating in the open. Young Elgin Smith from Komani (formerly known as Queenstown) showed his skills and will be playing against the likes of Nathacia Alfreds, Sade Butler, Joe-Lin Boyce and Yaaseen Abrahams, who have all come up through the Callies Academy.
