THE Malabar Old Age Home has announced its first Winter Market, set to take place on June 29 from 10:00 until 17:00 at the home, at 19 Saliehout Street, Malabar.
The home promises a day filled with fun, food, and festivities for all ages.
According to Mogan Segadavan, the Malabar Old Age Home representative, the home has been grappling with a monthly revenue shortfall that threatens to impact the quality of care provided to its residents.
“To bridge this gap and ensure that the home continues to offer a safe and nurturing environment, the management has organised various events, with all proceeds dedicated to the sustainability of the home,” he said.
The Winter Market will feature an array of activities designed to appeal to every member of the family. The Charity Shop will offer an array of pre-loved and new items for sale. Food lovers can look forward to a variety of stalls offering both savoury and sweet delights, from Indian savoury snacks and meals, to classic hot dogs and hamburgers. There will be something to satisfy every palate.
One’s sweet tooth will not be disappointed either, with Eastern sweet snacks, cakes, biscuits, and pancakes on offer. A beverage station will provide hot drinks like tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. A cosy tea garden will offer a relaxing space for attendees to enjoy tea and cake, while a bonfire area with golden oldies will create a warm atmosphere. Children will have their own area of fun, with activities including a jumping castle, candy floss machine, popcorn machine, face painting, and lots more fun.
“This event is not just about raising funds. It’s also about bringing people together to make a real difference while having some fun,” Segadavan added.
